The Flax project

Originally designed as a permanent installation for the Texture Flax Museum in 2014 the Pigeon service by Christien Meindertsma is now available at Thomas Eyck. The designer found her inspiration in the story of traveling and espionage pigeons that were locked into the building of the Linen Thread Company – today the Texture Flax Museum – during the First World War. The installation consists of 200 pigeons spread across the building. Meindertsma’s pigeons are hand made in 100 % linen and filled with flax seeds. In 15 short videos you can follow the process from seed to end product. The first one, Zaaien, you find below.Take your time and embark on an inspiring design journey!
